Tax refunds are expected to rise sharply in the 2026 filing season, with many Americans receiving about $1,000 more than usual, according to multiple financial analyses. The increase follows the passage of President Donald Trump\u2019s Working Families Tax Cuts Act<\/em>, signed into law on July 4, 2025.<\/p>\n

The Trump administration says the legislation will deliver \u201cthe biggest tax refund season ever,\u201d providing broad tax relief for working families and permanent tax cuts for workers. The White House noted that the bill passed without Democratic support and has also been referred to as the \u201cOne Big Beautiful Bill.\u201d<\/p>\n

Financial experts broadly agree refunds will increase. Estimates suggest average refunds could rise from about $3,050 in 2024 to roughly $3,800 for tax year 2025. Analysts project refunds will grow by 15\u201320% overall, amounting to an estimated $50 billion increase nationwide.<\/p>\n
