A week before Christmas, I overheard my daughter Amanda planning to leave all eight grandchildren with me while she and the others went on vacation. They spoke about me like I was just free childcare.<\/p>\n

It broke something in me. I realized I had spent years cooking, cleaning, paying for gifts, and caring for everyone\u2014while being forgotten on my birthday and excluded from their lives.<\/p>\n
