Lauren Wasser is a Californian model who lost her right leg in 2012 after developing menstrual toxic shock syndrome linked to tampon use. What began as flu-like symptoms quickly escalated into organ failure and a coma, leaving her with a 1% survival chance and leading to amputation at age 24.<\/p>\n

Years later, she also lost her other leg due to complications from the same condition.<\/p>\n

Since then, Lauren has spoken out about the dangers of tampons, pursued legal action against the brand involved, and campaigned for greater awareness of toxic shock syndrome.<\/p>\n

After battling depression, she turned her experience into advocacy for women\u2019s health and safety.<\/p>\n
