Austin Metcalf\u2019s mother, Meghan Metcalf, delivered a heartbreaking statement to the teen convicted of killing her son moments before he was sentenced to 35 years in prison.<\/p>\n

Karmelo Anthony, 19, was sentenced on June 10 after being found guilty of murdering 17-year-old Austin Metcalf during a 2025 Texas high school track meet in Frisco.<\/p>\n

Before sentencing, Austin\u2019s family addressed Anthony in court, speaking about their devastating loss.<\/p>\n

Meghan described her grief, saying life without her son feels empty and that she now only speaks to him at his grave. She remembered Austin as a kind, peaceful teenager and stressed, \u201cMy son was murdered. He didn\u2019t just die.\u201d<\/p>\n

Turning to Anthony, she said, \u201cYou should feel lucky you got 35 years because I\u2019ve been given a life sentence.\u201d<\/p>\n

Austin\u2019s father, Jeff Metcalf, also spoke, saying the loss destroyed him and changed his life forever. He said he forgave Anthony after the tragedy but could never forgive the act itself, and reminded him that actions have consequences.<\/p>\n
