I never tried to replace her mom. I gave her space and waited.<\/p>\n

Then one night, I found Lily in the kitchen at 2 a.m., holding her mother\u2019s old cake recipe.<\/p>\n

She wasn\u2019t baking.<\/p>\n

She was just standing there, missing someone she couldn\u2019t bring back.<\/p>\n

I sat down and started talking about baking without looking at her. After a while, she finally spoke.<\/p>\n
