Karine de Souza, a 33-year-old woman from Brazil, has spent her life battling a rare genetic condition called Xeroderma Pigmentosum. Diagnosed at age three, the condition makes her extremely sensitive to UV rays and leaves her at high risk of skin cancer.
Over the years, Karine has undergone more than 130 surgeries to remove cancerous lesions, including the loss of part of her nose and lower lip. Despite her physical challenges, she has also faced cruel comments and bullying from strangers both online and in public.
But Karine’s story is also one of love and resilience. She met her husband, Edmilson, through social media, and he fell in love with her strength and character. He embraced both Karine and her three children, proving that true love goes beyond appearances.
Although the couple faced hurtful comments from people questioning their relationship, their engagement photos went viral and inspired thousands. In 2023, Karine and Edmilson welcomed their long-awaited daughter, Zaia.
Today, Karine continues to spread a message of positivity and self-acceptance, encouraging others to smile, be happy, and make the most of life. !!
