Matthew McConaughey revealed in his memoir Greenlights that he experienced severe trauma in his youth, including being blackmailed into his first sexual experience at 15 and later being sexually assaulted while unconscious at 18.
Despite these painful events, he says he has never considered himself a victim and remains focused on positivity and resilience.
He also reflected on his strict upbringing and personal beliefs, including fears he once had about premarital sex.
Over the years, McConaughey built a highly successful career, starring in films like Dazed and Confused, Interstellar, and Dallas Buyers Club, for which he won an Oscar, as well as the series True Detective.
Beyond acting, he has supported community and safety initiatives, including programs aimed at preventing sexual assault and helping students get home safely.
Through his memoir, he shares both hardship and growth, aiming to inspire others to speak out, heal, and find strength after trauma.!!
