Karmelo Anthony was sentenced to 35 years in prison for the fatal stabbing of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf during a track event in Frisco, Texas, after an argument over seating escalated.
Witnesses said Austin asked Anthony to move, leading to a confrontation that ended in the stabbing and his death.
At sentencing, Austin’s father, Jeff Metcalf, gave an emotional statement, saying the loss had destroyed his life. He said he forgave Anthony for his own peace but not the act, stressing accountability and consequences.
Anthony appeared downcast as the court heard the impact of the tragedy on Austin’s family.
