Valerie Mahaffey, the Emmy-winning actress known for her memorable roles in Desperate Housewives and Young Sheldon, has died at the age of 71 after a battle with cancer. She passed away in Los Angeles, her publicist confirmed.

Her husband, Joseph Kell, paid tribute to her, saying he had “lost the love of my life” and that she would be deeply missed.

Born in Indonesia and raised across several countries, Mahaffey built a remarkable career that spanned more than four decades. She won a Primetime Emmy for Northern Exposure and became widely recognized for her work in television classics such as Seinfeld, ER, Frasier, Desperate Housewives, and Young Sheldon.

She is survived by her husband and daughter, Alice.
