Usha Vance is the Second Lady of the United States. While her husband JD Vance is frequently seen alongside Donald Trump, Usha and First Lady Melania Trump have had relatively few public appearances together, aside from a recent joint visit to a military base in North Carolina.
Before entering her public role, Usha worked as a trial lawyer and also clerked at the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals. She later joined Munger, Tolles & Olson in 2019, where she worked on complex civil litigation and appeals across multiple sectors. After JD Vance’s vice presidential nomination, she stepped down from the firm to focus on her family and new responsibilities.
Now serving as Second Lady, Usha says she misses parts of her previous career but is also embracing her current life. She recently shared her thoughts on Melania Trump, saying they are different people but “get along pretty well.”
Usha added that she enjoys speaking with Melania about family life and shared interests, describing her as “very focused, effective, and someone who gets things done step by step,” which she finds inspiring.
