For 63 years, Robert never missed a Valentine’s Day. From their college days to their final years together, he always brought his wife, Daisy, flowers as a reminder that no matter what life brought, he would always return to her.
After Robert died from a heart attack, Daisy faced her first Valentine’s Day alone. Expecting only silence, she was stunned when a bouquet of roses appeared at her door, along with a letter in Robert’s handwriting and a key to a hidden apartment.
Fearful that her husband had kept a painful secret, Daisy followed the instructions in his letter. Instead of discovering betrayal, she found a music studio centered around a beautiful upright piano. The room was filled with sheet music, recordings labeled “For Daisy,” and journals Robert had kept for 25 years.
Through his writings, Daisy learned that Robert had secretly taken piano lessons after hearing her mention the dream she had sacrificed long ago—to become a concert pianist. Despite struggling as a beginner and later battling a serious heart condition, he never gave up. He wanted to return to Daisy the passion she had set aside while building their life together.
Among the journals was an unfinished composition titled “For My Daisy.” Robert had worked on it until the final days of his life but had run out of time to complete it.
Sitting at the piano for the first time in decades, Daisy played the melody her husband had written. When the music ended halfway through, she continued, allowing her own hands and memories to finish the piece he could not.
She then discovered one final letter from Robert, encouraging her to reclaim the dream she had abandoned. He gifted her the piano, the studio, and a reminder that his love would remain present in every note she played.
Now, Daisy visits the studio regularly. She listens to Robert’s recordings and has returned to playing music herself. Recently, she recorded her first piano piece in sixty years and placed it beside his recordings with a simple label:
“For Robert.”
For decades, Robert gave Daisy flowers. In the end, he gave her something even greater—the chance to rediscover the part of herself she thought had been lost forever.
