Vincent D’Onofrio is best known for playing Leonard in Full Metal Jacket, a role that required him to shave his head and gain around 70–80 pounds — one of the biggest weight transformations for a film role. Before fame, he worked jobs like bouncer, cab driver, and bodyguard while chasing acting.
His breakthrough came after Matthew Modine encouraged him to audition for director Stanley Kubrick. Though the role brought praise, many associated him with the troubled character. He later built a long career with roles in Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Daredevil, Jurassic World, and The Unforgivable.
In his personal life, he dated Greta Scacchi and shares a daughter, Leila George, with her. He later married model Carin van der Donk in 1997, and they had two sons before filing for divorce in 2023.
