A family left Fresno, California, on May 22, 2026, heading to a graduation in Arizona—but they never arrived. Sergio Leon (38), his wife Herminia Hernandez (39), their 4-year-old twin daughters Nyah and Naomi, and Sergio’s brother Antonio (36) were all killed in a multi-vehicle crash on State Route 62 near the Mojave Desert. A third vehicle was involved, but its occupants survived.
According to authorities, a driver lost control, crossed into oncoming traffic, and caused a direct T-bone collision that sparked a fire, killing six people at the scene, including the entire Leon family.
The family had been on their way to join relatives already waiting at the graduation, who became alarmed when they never arrived. Calls went unanswered, and concern quickly turned into tragedy.
Loved ones described Sergio as hardworking and kind, Antonio as loyal and steady, and Herminia as warm and deeply caring. Their twin daughters, just 4 years old, were remembered as inseparable, joyful, and full of life, having recently completed preschool milestones.
A GoFundMe organized by relatives has raised tens of thousands of dollars to support grieving family members, with donations continuing to grow. The funds are being distributed among immediate relatives to help cover funeral and related costs.
A trip meant for celebration instead became an unimaginable loss for an entire family.!!
