Savannah Guthrie made an unexpected exit during the latest episode of Today, leaving the broadcast about 90 minutes early. Co-anchor Craig Melvin later assured viewers that she would return the next day, though no reason for her sudden departure was given.
The on-air exit comes weeks after Guthrie returned to the NBC show following a two-month break spent with family during the investigation into the disappearance of her mother, Nancy Guthrie.
Nancy, 84, was reported missing from her Arizona home on Feb. 1 after failing to attend church. Investigators later revealed surveillance footage showed a masked person approaching the home and damaging a security camera shortly before she vanished.
Authorities believe foul play may be involved, citing evidence of a crime inside the home and Nancy’s limited mobility. Savannah and her siblings have continued pleading for the public’s help in finding their mother.!
