Months after a viral Coldplay concert moment put her in the spotlight, Kristin Cabot is speaking publicly about former Astronomer CEO Andy Byron.
The controversy began when the two appeared on a concert “kiss cam,” prompting a joke from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin that fueled online speculation. The clip quickly went viral, leading to intense public scrutiny, criticism, and even death threats. Both Cabot and Byron eventually left their positions at Astronomer.
In a recent interview with Oprah Winfrey, Cabot revealed that she ended communication with Byron last fall. She said there was a “big miss on honesty and integrity,” adding that Byron was “not the person he represented himself to be” and that lying is a dealbreaker for her.
While Cabot declined to discuss specific details about Byron’s marriage, she said, “A lot of what was represented to me was not true.” She explained that she did not want to publicly speak on behalf of Byron or his family, having experienced the consequences of public judgment herself.
Cabot said she and Byron stayed in contact for a short time after the incident, mostly offering each other advice on handling the fallout. However, they eventually agreed to stop communicating so everyone involved could move forward.
Reflecting on the experience, Cabot said she believes she faced harsher public criticism than Byron, noting that her appearance was heavily scrutinized. While acknowledging she made a mistake, she said the worldwide reaction was overwhelming.
“I own the poor decision that I made in that moment,” Cabot said, “and I’ve paid an unimaginable price for that.”!!
