Matt Brown’s family is mourning a tragic loss. The former star of Alaskan Bush People was found dead in Washington’s Okanogan River on May 30 at age 43.
His brother, Bear Brown, confirmed the news on TikTok and revealed that their younger brother, Noah Brown, helped recover and identify Matt’s body.
While officials have not yet released an official cause of death, Bear said he believes Matt may have died by suicide. He also shared that Matt had struggled with addiction for years and had recently relapsed after a period of sobriety.
Bear urged fans to show compassion and respect toward the family, especially their mother, during this difficult time. He also spoke about the impact of online negativity, reminding people that those they see on screen are real people.
Authorities had previously responded to reports of a man in the Okanogan River, but were initially unable to locate him. A firearm was found at the scene, though officials did not publicly identify the individual involved.
Matt had become increasingly isolated from his family in recent years, but Bear said they remained in occasional contact and that he never expected such a tragic outcome.!!
