A simple idea from one mom has touched thousands of people online. Instead of placing notes in her son’s lunchbox, she wrote encouraging messages directly on his school pencils, such as “You are amazing,” “Never give up,” and “I love you.”
Teacher Amanda Cox discovered the messages when she was collecting pencils from students. One boy, whose mother had written the affirmations, was reluctant to give them away but eventually shared some with his classmates. While sharpening the pencils, Cox noticed the handwritten notes and was deeply moved.
She praised the mother’s thoughtful gesture, explaining that the positive messages reminded the child of his worth throughout the school day and even inspired him to share that encouragement with others. Cox said it was a powerful reminder that children need to hear they are loved, valued, talented, and important.
Her story quickly went viral, with many parents saying they planned to try the idea themselves.!!
