Famous Artist Has Died at 88

British artist David Hockney has died at 88, according to his publicist. He passed away peacefully at his home, just a month before his 89th birthday.

One of the most influential painters of the 20th and 21st centuries, Hockney became famous for his bright, colorful portraits and landscapes, especially his California-inspired swimming pool works like A Bigger Splash. Born in 1937 in Bradford, he studied at the Royal College of Art and became a leading figure in the pop art movement of the 1960s.

Over his career, he worked across painting, photography, stage design, and digital art, and remained creatively active until his later years despite health challenges.
