Scientists analyzed the DNA of Maria Branyas Morera, who lived to 117, to understand the secrets of extreme longevity.
Before her death, she asked researchers to study her genetics. They found she had strong health markers, a younger biological age, low “bad” cholesterol, and high “good” cholesterol.
Her long life was also linked to lifestyle habits like avoiding smoking and alcohol, staying socially active, exercising, and regularly eating probiotic yogurt.
Scientists believe her case shows longevity comes from a mix of good genes and healthy daily habits.
