The music world is mourning the loss of Walter Parazaider, co-founder of the iconic band Chicago, who died at 81 after battling Alzheimer’s disease.
A gifted saxophonist, flutist, and vocalist, Parazaider helped form Chicago in 1967 and played a key role in shaping the band’s distinctive blend of rock, jazz, and pop. Over nearly five decades, he performed on some of the group’s biggest hits and helped Chicago sell more than 100 million records worldwide.
Following news of his passing, former bandmates and friends shared heartfelt tributes, remembering his talent, leadership, and enduring friendship. Chicago described him as the visionary who brought the band together, saying their music “may never have been heard” without him.
Parazaider leaves behind his wife of 59 years, JacLynn, daughters Laura and Felicia, and a lasting musical legacy that touched generations of fans. ❤️
