Alex Ligertwood, longtime lead singer of Santana, has died in Los Angeles at 79. Details surrounding his death were not released.
Ligertwood was the lead vocalist for Santana between 1979 and 1994, contributing to some of the band’s most successful years. He is known for songs like “Winning,” “Hold On,” and “All I Ever Wanted.”
His wife, Shawn Brogan, said they were together for 36 years and married for 25, adding that he died peacefully in his sleep shortly after his final performance.
Born in Scotland in 1946, Ligertwood also worked with Jeff Beck, Brian Auger, Average White Band, and David Sancious.
