Beloved Singer-Songwriter Dies at 83, Leaving Behind a Powerful Musical Legacy

Jesse Colin Young, frontman of The Youngbloods, has passed away at 83 in Aiken, South Carolina. He rose to fame in the 1960s with the band’s hit “Get Together,” a widely recognized anthem for peace and unity during the counterculture era. Born Perry Miller in Queens in 1941, he began his career as a solo folk musician before forming the group with Jerry Corbitt, Joe Bauer, and Lowell Levinger. After the band’s success, he pursued a solo career blending folk, rock, blues, and jazz influences, releasing several acclaimed albums. Despite health struggles later in life, he continued performing and recording into the 2010s.
