Beloved ‘Downton Abbey’ Star Passes Away at 77

Nathalie Baye, the acclaimed French actress who appeared in Downton Abbey: A New Era and Catch Me If You Can, has reportedly been diagnosed with Lewy body dementia.

The condition, the second most common form of dementia after Alzheimer’s disease, affects memory, thinking, movement, and behavior, often causing hallucinations, muscle stiffness, and tremors.

Throughout her decades-long career, Baye earned four César Awards and became one of France’s most respected actresses, known for films such as Day for Night, The Man Who Loved Women, and La Balance. She also shares a daughter, actress Laura Smet, with late French singer Johnny Hallyday.
