Saudi “Sleeping Prince” Dies at 36 After Two Decades in a Coma

Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, known around the world as the “Sleeping Prince,” has passed away at 36 after nearly 20 years in a coma.

His life changed in 2005 when a car accident in London left him with severe brain injuries. He was brought back to Saudi Arabia and placed at King Abdulaziz Medical City, where he remained in a long-term vegetative state.

During those two decades, his father never left his side, keeping his room filled with decorations, prayers, and hope, turning his hospital stay into a symbol of unwavering parental love.

His death was announced in July 2025, followed by funeral prayers attended by family and loved ones, marking the end of a long and emotional vigil that lasted almost his entire adult life.
