After losing her husband of 52 years, Helmut Huber, in 2022, Susan Lucci felt completely broken and unable to imagine joy again. The couple married in 1969, had two children, and shared a deep lifelong partnership. After his death, Lucci struggled with grief but began noticing small “signs” she believed were from him, like dimes and feathers appearing in meaningful ways. These experiences helped her start healing.
In her 2026 memoir La Lucci, she reflects on love, loss, resilience, and the lessons grief taught her. She also opens up about her health scares, including severe heart blockages that required emergency treatment. Now 79, Lucci advocates for women’s heart health, encouraging women to listen to their bodies and seek medical help when something feels wrong.
The book also revisits her legendary career as Erica Kane on All My Children, the show’s cancellation, and her continued work in television and theater. Lucci remains open to new roles and believes soap operas still have a place today.
Through heartbreak, health challenges, and career changes, Lucci’s message is clear: it’s never too late to heal, grow, and keep living fully.
