Florida Tragedy: Coast Guard Officer, Family Found Dead After Suspected Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

A 33-year-old U.S. Coast Guard officer, Yohan Sanchez, his wife Rebeca Santos, and their two young sons were found dead in their Ocala, Florida home during a welfare check Friday night. Authorities suspect carbon monoxide poisoning, though the Medical Examiner will confirm the official cause of death. No foul play is believed to be involved.

Sanchez had spoken briefly with his mother earlier that day, unaware it would be their last conversation. The family was discovered after their pastor, concerned when they missed a church event, returned to the home and called 911.

Originally from Massachusetts, the family had moved to Florida about a year ago. Sanchez was remembered as a devoted Christian, husband, father and public servant. A GoFundMe created by his sister is raising money for funeral expenses and to support the grieving family.
