Prince William and Kate Middleton moved with their children from Adelaide Cottage to the larger Forest Lodge after three difficult years that included the death of Queen Elizabeth II and the cancer diagnoses of Kate and King Charles III. According to biographer Sally Bedell Smith, the old house had become a “place of pain,” so the family was looking for a fresh start.
Meanwhile, in 2012, William became very angry after paparazzi secretly photographed Kate during a vacation in France, and the magazine Closer published the photos, which led to a legal battle.
It is also reported that there has been a years-long rift between Kate and William’s cousins, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. The tension is said to have started from a disagreement at a fashion show in 2008 and was worsened by family tensions and different lifestyles.
