Attacker who sprayed Rep. Omar identified – background check reveals scary truth

U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar was sprayed with an “unknown substance” during a town hall in Minneapolis earlier this week while speaking about immigration enforcement and ICE. A man from the audience approached the stage and sprayed liquid from a large syringe onto her chest before being tackled by security.

The suspect, 55-year-old Anthony Kazmierczak, was taken into custody and booked on suspicion of third-degree assault. Authorities say he has a lengthy criminal history, including a felony auto-theft conviction, multiple DUI arrests, traffic violations, and past bankruptcies. He has also posted pro-Trump and anti-Democratic messages online. Investigators are reviewing his motives and considering additional charges.

Witnesses reported a strong vinegar-like odor, prompting a hazmat response, though officials later confirmed the substance posed no health risk. Omar declined medical treatment, returned to the stage, and finished her speech.

“Fear and intimidation doesn’t work on me,” Omar said, blaming hateful political rhetoric for rising threats against her. Former President Donald Trump dismissed the incident as “probably staged.”

The attack underscores growing safety concerns for elected officials, as threats against lawmakers have increased in recent years. Federal authorities, including the FBI, continue to investigate Kazmierczak’s actions and motivations.
