Longtime Motörhead Guitarist, Dies at 64

Motörhead guitarist Phil Campbell has died at the age of 64, his family announced. He passed away after a long battle in intensive care following a major operation.

Campbell was best known for playing in Motörhead for more than 30 years alongside frontman Lemmy Kilmister. The band disbanded in 2015 after Lemmy’s death.

Afterward, Campbell continued performing with his family band, Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons, which he formed with his sons Todd, Dane, and Tyla.

His family remembered him as a devoted husband, father, and proud grandfather, deeply loved by everyone who knew him. Tributes from fans and fellow musicians have poured in following the news.

The Welsh guitarist, born Philip Anthony Campbell in 1961, helped shape Motörhead’s powerful sound and played on several notable albums, including Orgasmatron (1986), 1916 (1991), and Sacrifice (1995).

Earlier this year, his band had canceled an Australian tour due to his health issues.
