YouTuber Jesse Ridgway and his wife Ashley have announced they ended their pregnancy after learning their unborn baby had a 95% chance of having Down syndrome (Trisomy 21).
Sharing the news on Instagram, Ridgway said the decision was extremely difficult and emotionally devastating for both of them. The couple had announced their pregnancy in March before receiving the diagnosis in April.
Ridgway explained that after learning more about the health challenges often associated with Down syndrome, including developmental delays and medical complications, they made the decision to terminate the pregnancy. He said the choice was not made lightly and described the experience as traumatic.
He also shared a message of support for people living with Down syndrome and autism, saying they matter and praising their families for their strength and courage.!!
