ABC News Host Steps Down Following Serious Medical Revelation

Beloved WABC anchor Bill Ritter has announced he is stepping down after being diagnosed with early-stage Alzheimer’s disease.

The 76-year-old said tests confirmed the diagnosis and that he will reduce his on-air role while focusing on raising awareness of the condition.

He shared a personal connection to the illness, noting his father also died from Alzheimer’s, and plans to spend more time with his family, including his new grandson.

Ritter joined WABC in 1998 and became a respected anchor covering major national and international events.
