Former New York Jets quarterback Browning Nagle has died at the age of 57 following a battle with colon cancer, according to reports.
Nagle was an NFL quarterback best known for playing in the early 1990s, particularly with the New York Jets. Born in Indiana in 1968, he starred at the University of Louisville, where his strong arm and performance in the 1991 Fiesta Bowl earned him MVP honors against Alabama.
He was selected 34th overall in the 1991 NFL Draft, just one pick after Brett Favre. The Jets saw him as a potential franchise quarterback, but his NFL career did not meet expectations.
Nagle spent three seasons with the Jets, followed by brief stints with the Indianapolis Colts and Atlanta Falcons. In total, he started 14 games, recording eight touchdown passes and 20 interceptions.
After retiring from football, he kept a low public profile. He is remembered as a talented college standout who reached the NFL and competed across multiple teams.
