Why this female worker wants to ditch her shirt

Gender inequality in the workplace remains a heated topic, and a female landscaper in Sydney has reignited the debate after calling out what she sees as a double standard: men can work shirtless in extreme heat, but women can’t.

Shianne Fox, known on social media as “The Bikini Tradie,” went viral after posting a TikTok complaining that on a 40°C (104°F) day, she was required to keep her shirt on while male coworkers worked topless. She called the rule sexist, saying she was told she would “distract” the men.

Fox, who has worked in male-dominated trades for over four years and often works in a bikini top due to the heat, said she was simply asking for equal treatment and sees nothing inappropriate about working topless.

While some supported her stance as a matter of equality, critics argued that workplace professionalism and social norms still apply, making the issue a point of ongoing debate.
